Where did Pai Mu Tan originate?
In addition, to all of the benefits of this high quality tea, we should first talk about where the tea originated and how the young tea leaves are processed.
With a short harvest season from mid-March to April, it’s no surprise that this tea is one of the world’s most popular white teas. Withered shortly after harvest yields this tea has the most delicate of nutty and floral flavors.
Silvery white in color and never fermented, the top two leaves and bud of the plant are hand-plucked prior to late spring. The difference between this tea and other loose leaf tea is this type of tea is the least oxidized and has minimal processing.
The white tea is ready to harvest between March and April in the Fujian province of China. With a light floral aroma, the tea leaves are harvested only a few weeks per year.
This high-quality tea is grown from the Camellia Sinensis plant and grown on terraced hills near the coast.
Whole leaf vs. Herbal tea
True teas are (whole tea leaves) rather than herbal teas which contain herbs and no actual tea leaves.
While herbal teas are wonderful for you as well, it’s not that one is better than the other, rather, whole leaf tea offers rich antioxidant and anti-inflammatory components,

Yes, it does, and here is why. It’s the catechins.
What are catechins in tea?
Catechins are a class of flavonoids – Catechins help in the protection of toxins from the environment and give tea their taste and color. Catechins are also known for their powerful antioxidant effects. How do they do that? Basically, they relax the blood vessels which in turn lowers your blood pressure. That is put simply.
