Seasonal Decorating

Welcome !! It’s time to start thinking about your Seasonal Decorating! I know it’s only the beginning of November and Thanksgiving is on most of our minds, but with the shortages of shopping that we are experiencing, along with shipping delays, it’s time to get thinking about shopping for our seasonal decor.

Taking the Guess Work out of Seasonal Decorating

I’m going to help by taking some of the guesswork out of it for you!

Let’s start with my process for decorating. The first thing I typically do is find my ‘passion’ for the year. This year I’m totally obsessed with pine cones.

Pine cones add such warmth to your home during this chilly season. There is something about bringing outdoor nature indoors. If you follow me along on Instagram @henandhorsedesign you’ll remember that while my hubby was golfing recently, I went along to walk the course with him and was foraging on each tee and golf hole. I found the prettiest pinecones, acorns, and branches along the way.

I’ve gathered several of my favorite seasonal decorating items in this post while they are still in supply. Many of them I will be using in my own home.

Decorating my seasonal decor in the kitchen is one of my favorite things to do. I spend lots of time in the kitchen and my goal is to make it welcoming and cozy for my family and our guests.  I call it my ‘down home’ look.

When you add greenery, pinecones and candles it’s a big winner. One thing I love to do is coordinate from space to space so my eye can take it all in without being overwhelming.

Try to stay with similar coordinating colors and schemes for a blended look.

With this mood board, I’ve added golds, along with greenery, and repeated the pine cone theme. Since I love the vintage home look, the seasonal decor I chose has the feel of being ‘old world’ even tho these items are newer!

The knitted ivory/cream, burgundy, and green stockings are sure to delight on Christmas morning.

Did you notice the vintage stocking holders for the mantel! Aren’t those darlings?
